In my broadcast journalism experiences, reporter stand-ups have become one of the greatest challenges I’ve faced in front of the camera. Whether previewing the next big game or reporting on a past event, it can be very overwhelming to hold a still position while articulating knowledge on a subject with no help from a nearby teleprompter or director. These difficulties further emphasize the importance of growth through repetition. As I’ve found out, the on-camera nerves that come when someone hits ‘record’ are much more manageable with the confidence that develops from constant practice and patience.

My attached compilation of on-camera stand-ups featuring television reporting, social media-based stand-ups, and professional interviewing is the result of the patience and persistence I put into my on-camera speaking while in high school. I have learned how to portray an informed, conversational-like tone while being featured in an on-camera stand-up, and I know that shows in my embedded samples.
